The 2009 United States Mint Silver Proof Set contains 18 coins, each bearing the “S” mint mark of the U.S. Mint at San Francisco. Included are four Presidential $1 Coins honoring presidents: William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, James K. Polk and Zachary Taylor; the six new quarters honoring the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories struck in 90% silver: Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands; the four Lincoln One Cent Coins recognizing the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth; the new Native American $1 Coin; and the Jefferson nickel. Lastly, this great set includes a 90% silver example of a 2009 proof Roosevelt dime and Kennedy half-dollar.

All the coins come with their original mint boxes with certificates.

United States proof coins are extraordinarily brilliant, with sharp relief and a mirror-like background. Their frosted, sculpted foregrounds give them a special cameo effect. Proof blanks are specially treated, polished and cleaned to ensure high quality strikes. The blanks are then fed into presses fitted with hand-polished dies and struck at least twice to ensure sharp relief. The coins are then packaged in presentation cases to showcase and maintain their exceptional finish
