Silver Tetradrachm From Ancient Greece. 323-317 BC! Fine To Very Fine Condition.

Philip III SilverTetradrachm

These wonderful silver coins can be considered nothing short of a work of art. The obverse is that of Philip III as represented by Herakles (Hercules) wearing a lions skin headdress. The reverse features a seated Zeus. Each of these Tetradrachm are in fine to very fine condition and for comparison are slightly smaller than a U.S. half dollar. Many different mint marks and symbols are used, making virtually no two alike.

Philip III was King of Macedonia and most of the known world from 323-317 B.C. Philip III assumed the throne after the death of his half brother Alexander the Great. Philip III is sometimes referred to Alexanders "idiot" brother and met a violent death at a young age just a few years afer the death of Alexander.
